Korea condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, calls for immediate halt

The Korean foreign ministry has strongly condemned recent attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen against civilian and economic targets in Saudi Arabia. The Iranian-backed Houthi group has intensified strikes on Saudi Arabia since last week, employing missiles and drones against cities and energy infrastructure. These assaults have resulted in numerous injuries and caused fires and operational disruptions at some energy facilities, according to international media accounts.

In a formal statement, the Korean ministry expressed deep regret over the Houthi attacks that inflicted civilian casualties in southern Saudi Arabia. The ministry explicitly stated that any action targeting civilians and civilian facilities, as well as measures that jeopardize freedom and safety at sea, are completely unjustifiable under any circumstances. The ministry strongly urged the Houthi rebels to cease their attacks immediately.

Furthermore, the Korean foreign ministry highlighted that maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East, including guaranteeing safe and unrestricted navigation in the Red Sea, is of paramount importance to the global community from various vantage points.
