Job matching session to be held on Sep. 17 for affected ex-staff of True Fitness & True Yoga

An employment and skills matching session will be held on September 17 for former employees of True Fitness and True Yoga following their operations' cessation across all outlets on September 10. The session, organized by NTUC's Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), Singapore Manual and Mercantile Workers' Union (SMMWU), and the National Instructors and Coaches Association (NICA), aims to provide job matching assistance, guidance, and advice to affected workers.

SMMWU members and workers will receive support during the event, alongside career coaching and skills upgrading advice from NTUC's e2i. Eligible Singaporeans or PRs can also access the SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support (JS) scheme for temporary financial assistance of up to S$6,000 over six months, which aids in finding a job that better utilizes their skills and experiences.

Union members requiring skills upgrading can utilize the Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) to offset training costs. As of September 11, the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) reported over 241 consumer complaints regarding unutilized memberships, packages, and services worth more than S$609,000 after the closure of both companies.

True Singapore Group, operating 10 fitness and yoga outlets under True Fitness, TFX, and Yoga Edition, had approximately 100 former staff members at their headquarters on September 11, awaiting information on the next steps. The liquidators acknowledged their efforts to recover funds for staff salaries and reimburse members who purchased packages; however, some ex-staff members claimed they were owed salaries for the days they worked in September, which they had not yet received.
