How Nigerians can apply for 2027/2028 UK commonwealth scholarship – FG

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the availability of 2027/2028 Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan for Nigerian university graduates. Applications will close on October 20, 2026. The scholarships are available for one-year taught Master’s programmes or doctoral studies of up to three years, with the option to pursue them in the United Kingdom.

The Ministry of Education's Department of Scholarship Awards has specified that applicants for the Master’s category must possess a first degree with at least a Second Class Upper Division, while doctoral applicants must hold a relevant Master’s degree and a First degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division. Admitted applicants must secure admission into at least two UK institutions and provide a supporting statement from a prospective supervisor at their chosen institution.

To apply, candidates must register on the Electronic Application System (EAS), complete the application form, upload necessary documents such as passport photos, academic transcripts, birth certificates, and admission letters from a UK institution, and submit the completed form online before the deadline. The selection process will focus on academic merit, development impact on completion, and the quality of the study plan.
