Crouching officer, hidden tackle: YRP shares video of officer’s NFL-worthy sneak tackle of motorcyclist

The York Regional Police (YRP) have released body-cam footage showcasing an officer's impressive sneak tackle of a motorcyclist. According to the police, "You could say our officers are happy the NFL is back." The incident occurred on August 9, around 1:42 p.m., at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Mutual Street. Following a collision, a motorcyclist was instructed to return to the scene to exchange information.

However, he refused to stop and fled the area, despite being advised he was under arrest. The video depicts an officer observing the motorcyclist parked on the roadside, seemingly taunting them. As the motorcyclist remained oblivious, the officer discreetly parked nearby and approached the suspect, crouching and silently advancing towards him.

The officer executed a well-timed tackle, taking the motorcyclist to the ground and subsequently placing him in handcuffs. YRP praised the tackle as "beautiful form tackle with a blindside approach." The post added a touch of humor, referencing football's first rule: keep your head on a swivel. The suspect's personalized license plate, "Run This," was displayed, and it was revealed to be unauthorized.

Following the arrest, the suspect was charged with failure to stop after an accident, flight from police, driving without insurance, failing to disclose insurance particulars, and using an unauthorized permit/plate.
