Court adjourns suit challenging David Mark’s ADC leadership

On Monday, the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned a legal dispute concerning the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The suit, filed by ADC member Nafiu-Bala Gombe, seeks to prohibit the party from referring to the current leadership led by David Mark, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and others as the official representatives of the ADC.

Nafiu-Bala Gombe argues that their designation violates the party's constitution and the Electoral Act. The case, identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, was set to hear all pending applications before Justice Peter Lifu, but the hearing was halted as the judge did not attend. The matter has been postponed until September 28. In a previous ruling on June 16, the judge dismissed separate applications by the ADC and its National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, requesting his withdrawal from the case due to perceived bias.

Gombe's legal action demands an injunction against Mark, Aregbesola, and the interim National Working Committee members from representing themselves as the ADC's leaders.
