Court adjourns suit challenging David Mark’s ADC leadership

The Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned a legal challenge on Monday, September 16, 2025, to September 28, 2025, in the case against David Mark's leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The suit was filed by Nafiu-Bala Gombe, an aggrieved member of the ADC, and was set to be heard by Justice Peter Lifu. However, due to Lifu's absence from the courtroom, the matter was adjourned.

Judge Lifu had initially set the hearing for June 16, after dismissing applications from the ADC and its National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, seeking the judge's removal from the case due to perceived bias. The court had ruled in Gombe's favor, awarding N1 million in costs to Gombe against both the ADC and Aregbesola. Gombe's legal action contends that Mark, Aregbesola, and other members of the ADC's interim National Working Committee violated the party's constitution and the Electoral Act by assuming leadership roles without proper authorization.
