Amol Muzumdar on India’s middle order woes: ‘We don’t have any concerns’

In the Women's Asia Cup final, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana played a significant role by combining for 129 runs, with Shafali scoring 68 and Mandhana contributing 59. This performance helped India secure a 72-run victory over Sri Lanka and clinch their eighth title. Shafali was the leading run-scorer with 236 runs, while Mandhana finished second with 213 runs.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was the third-highest scorer with 71 runs, while Pratika Rawal scored 56. Head coach Amol Muzumdar, however, reiterated that he had no concerns about India's middle order despite the lack of runs. He stated, "I think there is no such thing as middle order collapse. We have had some lovely scores given the conditions here.

I don’t think there was anything regarding the middle order. We don’t have any concerns regarding that." Muzumdar also acknowledged that there was room for improvement in the field. India missed a few chances during the final, and the coach emphasized that they were actively working on their fielding skills. He mentioned that the team had been putting in significant effort into this aspect, conducting extensive training sessions.

Muzumdar further mentioned that fitness and running between the wickets had also been emphasized during the team's preparation camps. He expressed that the team would not be satisfied with the win and would be eager for the next tournament. Additionally, G Kamalini made a notable impact in the final, coming into the lineup after Pratika Rawal was rested.

Initially slated for the third position, Kamalini was moved down the order to the seventh spot during the innings. Despite this, she delivered an unbeaten 15 off five balls in the final over, showcasing her talent and contributing to the team's momentum. Muzumdar praised Kamalini's performance and expressed satisfaction that players were willing to compete for positions.
