Philadelphia (AP) — Stefon Diggs celebrated his first touchdown with Washington by embracing the goalpost, but his display earned him a costly penalty. The Commanders' loss to the Eagles, 24-22, was partly attributed to the 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct infraction on Diggs. The veteran receiver, who had four catches for 55 yards in his Washington debut, accepted full responsibility for his touchdown celebration.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who went 18 of 34 for 164 yards, acknowledged the importance of situational football and blamed himself for not emphasizing the 2-point attempt in the huddle. The Commanders, who had previously reached the NFC title game, suffered a setback after failing on another 2-point attempt with 1:01 left in the game.
