Wisconsin Rep. Tom Tiffany suffers minor injuries when his plane makes an emergency landing in a lake

Wisconsin Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany suffered minor injuries after his plane made an emergency landing on Lake Wausau Saturday night. Tiffany was returning home from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner in Onalaska, Wisconsin, when the plane lost power near Wausau Downtown Airport. The pilot executed an emergency water landing in Lake Wausau, and Tiffany and the pilot exited the aircraft and swam to a safe area.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly, and both were transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment. Tiffany expressed gratitude to the pilot, the Wausau Fire Department, and the first responders for their quick assistance. Authorities have stated that the plane will be marked with a buoy and that people should stay away. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and State Patrol, along with the Federal Aviation Administration, are investigating the incident.

Tiffany, a member of the far-right House Freedom Caucus, won his party's nomination for governor, with support from President Donald Trump. His Democratic opponent, David Crowley, also expressed relief that no one else was injured in the incident.
