Work Underway On Joint Defense Projects — Summary Of Meeting Between Ukrainian And Polish Foreign Ministers

On September 13, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with his Polish counterpart Radosław Sikorski in Kyiv to discuss defense support for Ukraine, increasing pressure on Russia, the situation in the Black Sea, Ukraine's European integration, and bilateral cooperation. Defense was the primary topic of the meeting.

Sybiha expressed gratitude to Poland for its support and the recent military aid package announced following the Ramstein format meeting. The main focus was strengthening airspace protection and launching joint defense projects to raise the cost of the war for Russia.

Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski stated that Russia's hybrid war extends beyond information attacks, including arson in Poland, attempts to destroy aircraft and railway infrastructure, and attacks on European countries. He emphasized that Russia's aggression is already inside the house, requiring a tougher response from NATO.

The ministers agreed on further limiting Russian influence in Europe, including banning visas for Russian combatants and blocking the transit of Russian products to the European market. They also discussed banning entry for Russian combatants and closing "Russian Houses" in European capitals, particularly after the Leipzig incident.

Both sides also highlighted the importance of historical dialogue, including search and exhumation operations, opening archives, and developing direct dialogue between historians. The Ukrainian and Polish foreign ministers emphasized the need for a strong collective response from Europe to counter Russia's hybrid threats and protect Ukraine's security and European stability.
