US Rep. Tom Tiffany says he sustained minor injuries after plane makes emergency landing

On September 13, Representative Tom Tiffany, the Republican candidate for Wisconsin governor, reported that he and his pilot were injured only mildly after their plane made an emergency water landing when power was lost en route to Wausau Downtown Airport. The incident occurred as the aircraft approached the airport in central Wisconsin.

Following the landing, Tiffany and the pilot called 911, then exited the plane and swam to a shallow area before emergency responders arrived in a boat. They were safely removed from the water and taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment. Both the pilot and Representative Tiffany were fortunate to suffer only minor injuries.

Tiffany, endorsed by President Donald Trump, will compete against Democratic nominee David Crowley, the Milwaukee County Executive, in the November 3 gubernatorial election. Crowley expressed relief that no one sustained serious injuries, crediting the pilot's heroism for preventing a more tragic outcome.
