Putin Leaves Delhi After BRICS Summit, Says Russia Faces 30,000+ Sanctions | VIDEO

Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded his attendance at the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Sunday, following a two-day event hosted by India in its 2026 chairmanship. During his visit, Putin engaged in BRICS sessions, toured the Bharat Innovates exhibition, and held bilateral discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance India-Russia relations.

Addressing the BRICS Business Forum Leaders’ Session, Putin expressed strong disapproval of the utilization of economic and diplomatic pressure as instruments of state-level interference. He highlighted that Russia has faced over 30,000 sanctions, emphasizing that this number is twice the total sanctions imposed on all other countries combined.

Putin also criticized "ugly" competitive practices, cautioning against the use of economic coercion in international trade. During the summit, Modi and Putin engaged in bilateral talks focused on deepening economic and strategic cooperation, discussing the implementation of the Programme for Economic Cooperation 2030, as well as cooperation in infrastructure, energy, technology, defense, and culture.

The two leaders met just days after a previous interaction at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek on August 31. On the sidelines of the summit, discussions also encompassed major regional and global events, including conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region, both of which have impacted maritime trade and the safety of Indian seafarers.

PM Modi reiterated India's stance that dialogue and diplomacy should be the primary means for resolving conflicts, and expressed readiness to contribute to peace efforts. Notably, the BRICS Summit 2026 took place in luxury Delhi hotels, where Putin, alongside other world leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, were accommodated.
