Police commence investigation into shooting of Governor Adeleke’s ally Emir

The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the shooting of Olalekan Oyeyemi, also known as "Emir Ajagungbade", in Ile-Ife, Osun State. This decision was announced in a statement released by the Command's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Zungura.

Oyeyemi was reportedly killed on Sunday in Ile-Ife. According to the police, they were deployed to the area following reports of an accident at the Energy Filling Station in Ile-Ife. Preliminary findings indicate that Oyeyemi was indeed shot, although the command has not disclosed the circumstances leading to the shooting or the identity of the suspected perpetrators.

The police are currently working to uncover the immediate and underlying causes of the shooting, identify those responsible, and hold them accountable. CP Zungura has condemned the shooting and urged the public to refrain from reprisals or acts of violence. He advised residents to remain calm, obey the law, and provide any information that could aid the investigation.

The police have also warned against violence, property destruction, and other forms of criminality. Osun State Police Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, maintaining peace and public order across the state, and extending its condolences to Oyeyemi's family and friends.
