Nmecha and Silva keep Dortmund perfect in Bundesliga

BERLIN: Felix Nmecha and Fabio Silva helped Borussia Dortmund secure a perfect start to the Bundesliga season with a 3-0 victory over promoted Paderborn. The German side, led by coach Niko Kovac, continues their impressive streak of three consecutive wins this campaign, matching their best start in 11 seasons under Thomas Tuchel's management.

Nmecha and Silva started up front together for the first time this season, with Silva scoring the opener after five minutes. Guirassy had two goals ruled offside in the first half, but Dortmund's defense held firm, having failed to score since returning to the top flight. Nmecha came off the bench to score twice, including a spectacular late bicycle kick to seal the win.

Captain Nico Schlotterbeck returned to action after recovering from a serious ankle injury sustained at the World Cup. Konstantinos Karetsas, who was injured during Dortmund's Champions League match against Villarreal, was also back in training and could return for the next match against Stuttgart. Elsewhere, Freiburg defeated Borussia Moenchengladbach 5-0, securing the top spot in the Bundesliga table.

In a late game, Werder Bremen drew 1-1 with Cologne, thanks to a late goal from West Ham loanee Niclas Fuellkrug. Augsburg finished their first-ever top-of-the-table run with a 2-2 draw at home to Bayer Leverkusen, while Eintracht Frankfurt claimed their first victory of the season with a 3-1 win against Mainz.
