Nigeria sustains OPEC quota compliance as oil output hits 1.68m bpd

Nigeria's crude oil production rose to 1,677,777 barrels per day in August 2026, marking a 0.4% increase from the 1.67 million bpd recorded in July. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission reported that the country maintained compliance with its Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries quota for the fourth consecutive month.

The regulator attributed the modest improvement to the resolution of operational challenges at the Erha field, which had negatively impacted production performance in the previous month. Production activities at most other producing assets remained stable, with operators implementing measures to enhance efficiency and reduce operational disruptions.

The highest daily crude oil and condensate production during August was 1.71 million bpd, while the lowest was 1.64 million bpd.
