Jangan layan desakan Umno untuk PRU awal, Mujahid gesa Anwar

Mujahid Yusof Rawa, Amanah's Deputy President, warned the government lacks time to resolve key issues before the general election, as it relies on Umno's pressure to call early polls. Anwar Ibrahim was urged not to heed Umno's demand for an early election due to the numerous priorities that require urgent attention, including the economy and welfare, according to Mujahid.

The remainder of the government's term ends in December 2027, making it crucial for the administration to tackle these issues during the remaining period. "For Amanah, we remain committed to completing the current term of government unity, which presents a critical window for the government to address the nation's key concerns," Mujahid emphasized.

He dismissed Umno's plea to expedite the general elections, stating that the government is not prepared to prioritize this request over its other responsibilities. "The government is not currently in a position to sacrifice all of this in order to satisfy Umno's request for early polls," Mujahid remarked, as quoted by Sinar Harian.

During his speech at the Umno Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi challenged those criticizing Umno to formally expel the party from the government. However, following a subsequent press conference, Zahid reiterated Umno's stance to remain in coalition with the government until the end of the term.

According to Mujahid, the coalition government was established in 2022 based on mutual agreement and conditions. If any party wishes to withdraw, it will be taken into consideration. Anwar also expressed no intention to remove any party but would not prevent anyone from leaving voluntarily.
