Haaland scores controversial winner for 10-man City at Man Utd

Erling Haaland's controversial goal proved decisive as Manchester City secured a hard-fought victory over Manchester United in a heated Manchester derby, despite being reduced to 10 men for over 70 minutes. Midfielder Phil Foden was sent off for a direct red card offense against Bruno Fernandes, with United quickly regaining control, hitting the crossbar on either side of halftime.

However, City managed to score the lone goal of the match just before halftime when Haaland capitalized on a well-placed cross from Josko Gvardiol in the 60th minute. Initially flagged offside, Haaland was later deemed onside by the video assistant referee (VAR), while it was ruled that Enzo Fernandez was not interfering with play as he reached for the cross.

The result not only kept City's perfect start to the Premier League season under their new manager, Enzo Maresca intact, but also saw them tie with Arsenal at the top of the table. United, on the other hand, dropped valuable points for the third time in four league matches and remained in 13th place.
