Haaland scores controversial winner for 10-man City at Man Utd

In the first Manchester derby of the season, Manchester City secured a 1-0 victory over Manchester United thanks to Erling Haaland's controversial winner. City started the match with 10 players for nearly 70 minutes after Phil Foden received a red card in the first half. The opening 20 minutes of the game were relatively balanced, with neither team able to gain a clear advantage.

However, the match took a dramatic turn when Foden became the second City player to be sent off in a Manchester derby, after being involved in an altercation with Bruno Fernandes. Foden was shown a straight red card, while Fernandes was left unpunished. Before halftime, United had the upper hand and came close to scoring when Marcus Rashford hit the post from a free-kick.

The second half saw United missing another post when Kobbie Mainoo struck the ball, only for it to rebound off the goalpost. Late in the game, Haaland made a brilliant run after Josko Gvardiol's cross and scored the decisive goal, initially ruled offside before VAR overturned the decision. Enzo Fernandez, who was offside, attempted to head the cross but did not affect the play, allowing Haaland's goal to stand.

United, despite having a numerical advantage, struggled to create chances and failed to equalize. The win left City and Arsenal as the only teams with a perfect start to the season, while United have lost two of their first four games, securing just one victory.
