GNFS responds to fuel tanker accident and house fire in Eastern Region

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to two separate emergencies in the Eastern Region. The first incident involved a fuel tanker stuck on a bridge at Osubetor, Tinkong due to a suspected mechanical issue. A MAN fuel tanker, carrying around 54,000 litres of petrol, was immobilised on the Osubetor Bridge. Firefighters, along with Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) personnel, secured the area and evaluated the tanker for any potential risks.

No fuel spillage, contamination, or fire hazard was identified. As a precautionary measure, cooling procedures were implemented while the situation was brought under control. The second incident occurred at Larteh Akuapem, specifically at Akade-Mission Quarters, where a single-room residence caught fire. Fortunately, residents managed to smother the flames using water before the arrival of the fire crews.

After the fire was extinguished, the GNFS crew inspected the premises, salvaged some personal items, and secured the impacted area. While clothes and a blanket were damaged in the blaze, there were no reported injuries. The origin of the fire and the financial repercussions remain unknown.
