Anwar urges BRICS to act against unfair global trade practices

Malaysia's engagement as a Brics partner has expanded its trade possibilities with member nations, which together account for over half of the global population and economic output. J-KOM director-general Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali emphasized that joining Brics enables Malaysia to follow a 'middle path,' avoiding dependence on any single global power.

He acknowledged that Brics members possess a combined population surpassing half the world's residents and significant purchasing power, making it a regrettable omission for Malaysia to stay out of the group. During a press conference following a community meeting, Hisyamuddin spoke at the Madani Kita Programme (PMK) alongside Simpang Pulai @ Gopeng residents at the Rapat Setia Community Hall.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is set to address the 18th Brics Leaders' Summit in New Delhi, India, where he is expected to stress the importance of enhancing cooperation among Brics member and partner countries to tackle development challenges, foster economic opportunities, and ensure the benefits of technological advancements are equitably distributed.

Addressing social media concerns about Anwar's absence from the conference photo, Hisyamuddin clarified that Malaysia's official status as a partner remains intact, granting them direct involvement in trade relations with the 11 Brics member countries. This partnership offers opportunities to establish direct connections with key figures such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iran's President, and leaders from Brazil and South Africa.

In a related development, J-KOM, Information Department (JAPEN), and National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) will collaborate to bolster the dissemination of government information and policies to grassroots communities. This partnership aims to create more effective and comprehensive synergies in information delivery, ensuring that all government initiatives and policies are thoroughly understood by the public.

By delivering information and simultaneously gathering feedback from the grassroots, this approach guarantees that the issues addressed are directly relevant and based on findings obtained from the local level.
