Umno tetap harap pengampunan Najib dipertimbangkan, kata Zahid

Umno leader Zahid Hamidi expressed hope that Najib Razak's request for mercy would be considered at a future meeting of the Federal Territory Advisory Board. Kuala Lumpur: Umno has postponed Najib Razak's petition for mercy but hopes it will be taken into account during upcoming Federal Territory Advisory Board meetings. Umno President Zahid Hamidi affirmed the party's full respect for Sultan Ibrahim's prerogative and the established process regarding this matter.

"We express our sympathy and fully respect the Sultan's prerogative and the absolute rights or prerogative of the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong in this matter. Umno believes that this issue has not been resolved yet," he said in his closing remarks at the Umno General Assembly meeting. "With utmost respect, Umno continues to hope that Najib Razak's petition for mercy will be considered at the upcoming combined meeting," he added during the address at the 63rd meeting of the Federal Territory Advisory Board held yesterday.

The Federal Territory Advisory Board meeting decided to postpone Najib Razak's petition for mercy. In a statement from the Legal Affairs Department, the Prime Minister's Office informed that Sultan Ibrahim graciously accepted the postponement of the petition to the upcoming meeting. At the same meeting, Sultan Ibrahim also graciously granted the release of 65 prisoners.
