Trump: Iran probably ‘behind’ Saudi oil pipeline attack

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that Iran was likely behind a drone attack on a Saudi Arabian oil pipeline, which halted the East-West route for crude exports and avoided the Strait of Hormuz. Addressing reporters in Dublin, Trump was questioned about Iran's involvement in the attack on the crucial oil conduit. The president replied, "I think they are, probably they are."

Trump also mentioned that he had spoken with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whom he characterized as a "good friend." He further revealed that Yemen's Houthi rebels had informed his administration that they did not wish for the United States to become directly involved in the conflict. Saudi Arabia claims that drones launched from Iraq targeted the pipeline.

Trump added, "They would much prefer not having us involved, and they're letting most ships go through. There's just one country that they're not too happy with, and we’ll get that straightened out."
