Suspected alcohol poisoning: Ondo activates multi-agency investigation team as death toll rises

Allegations of alcohol poisoning deaths have prompted a multi-agency investigation in Ondo State, Nigeria. According to the World Health Organisation, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, 29 out of 60 suspected cases have resulted in fatalities, with a fatality rate of 48.3 percent.

Majority of the victims are males aged 16 to 55, according to Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Banji Awolowo Ajaka. Three persons are currently admitted, while 27 are under observation.
