South Coast Railway PCOM reviews freight infrastructure at Krishnapatnam Port

SCoR Principal Chief Operations Manager Vineet Kumar recently toured Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited and key railway stations, assessing infrastructure development and freight handling capabilities. During his visit, Kumar met with Port CEO Jagadeesh Patil to discuss strengthening rail infrastructure and boosting the port's ability to handle cargo.

To increase efficiency, Krishnapatnam Port has expanded its silo-loading infrastructure with a new feeding conveyor, allowing two silos to operate at once. With six mechanised berths now in operation, the port can accommodate Capesize vessels, which can transport over 100,000 tonnes of cargo each. SCoR officials stated that the port aims to load 25 million tonnes of freight via rail this financial year, surpassing the 22.7 million tonnes loaded in the prior year.

Kumar also inspected several railway stations and goods sheds, including Manubolu, Krishnapatnam, Rapur, and Niduguntapalem, evaluating operational safety, efficiency, and the progress of ongoing development projects. Along for the tour were Divisional Operations Manager A. Suresh Reddy, Divisional Commercial Manager G. Mohana Krishna, and other officials.
