Ogun community threatens legal action over four-month blackout

In the Arepo community of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area in Ogun State, residents are threatening legal action over persistent power outages that have lasted for four months. The community, represented by Concerned Residents of Arepo, claims they have received only two hours of electricity per day, far less than their expected 16 hours under the service-based tariff regime.

They demand compensation for the power loss and immediate improvements to the supply, including meter installation, feeder upgrades, and equipment rehabilitation. The residents have sent the demand letter to Ikeja Electric's Managing Director and various regulatory bodies, vowing to seek lawful redress if their concerns are not addressed within a month.
