Williams emphasized that her team would not show weaknesses or doubts, stating, "We’re not going to show weaknesses on the court, we’re not going to show doubts." Janelle Salaün, another key player, stated that the Olympic final was in the past and urged the focus on the upcoming match.

France, which has not won a medal since the inaugural tournament in 1953, sees this as an opportunity to improve their standing in the sport, with coach Jean-Aimé Toupane highlighting the global growth of French basketball.
