Nigeria will refine crude oil at lower cost if I’m elected President – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has announced that if elected President, Nigeria's crude oil refining costs would be significantly reduced. The former Vice President assured Nigerians that they would pay less for fuel as it would be refined within the country, eliminating the need for expensive imports.

Drawing a parallel with the shoemaking industry, Atiku explained that the Nigerian government could either spend public funds to make imported shoes cheaper or support local shoemakers to reduce their production costs. By doing so, more shoes would be made locally, employing more Nigerians and selling at more affordable prices. He extended this principle to fuel, stating that by supporting crude refined in Nigeria, the country could produce it at a lower cost, leading to reduced fuel prices for citizens.

Atiku emphasized that his vision extended beyond fuel prices. He aimed to lower the cost of bus fares, food transportation, and energy expenses for small business owners, traders, barbers, tailors, and welders. He assured the public that his administration would make life more affordable for everyone, bringing relief to their pockets, homes, and daily lives. Atiku concluded by promising to make Nigeria affordable again, ensuring that the nation's citizens could enjoy a better standard of living.
