Kedah Umno to hold political talks with Pas, not PN

KUALA LUMPUR: A Terengganu Umno delegate has warned that the state's interests must be protected if Umno seeks political cooperation with Pas for the upcoming state election. Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, the Kuala Neru Umno division chief, stated that Terengganu Umno should not be disregarded during negotiations, as the party is working to rebuild its strength in the state.

When discussing with the opposing party, he cautioned Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi, the Umno president, to consider Terengganu Umno's interests and to seek mutual understanding and benefit. Razif emphasized that negotiations should avoid allowing one side to gain at the expense of the other, and instead, the goal should be to reach a consensus and ensure that all parties benefit.

He also mentioned Terengganu Umno's proposed Grand Coalition and the political understanding, or Tafahum Siasi, proposed by Zahid. While he acknowledged the possibility of similar political cooperation in Melaka and potentially other states, he stressed that Terengganu Umno's interests must be safeguarded. The party is currently strengthening its organization and grassroots efforts throughout the state.

Three former Terengganu Menteris Besar, including Tan Sri Idris Jusoh and Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, are working alongside Razif and the state leadership to rebuild Umno in Terengganu. Despite the challenges, Razif affirmed that Terengganu Umno is determined to make a political comeback and urged unity and loyalty to the party's leadership while regaining voter confidence in the state.
