Foreign countries may ask Nigerians to return home in future — Qatar-based scholar, Aluko

Dr. Akinseye Aluko, an Assistant Professor at Liverpool John Moores University/Oryx University in Doha, Qatar, shares his journey and experiences with Biodun Busari. Born and raised in Surulere, Lagos, and Mushin, Aluko credits his parents for prioritising his education, instilling a strong work ethic, and nurturing his ambition to succeed.

From a young age, Aluko wanted to be on top of affairs and initially aimed to become a pilot. He enrolled at Michigan Flight Aviation School in the United States, but his father, who was a maritime captain, did not fund the training. Instead, Aluko's family moved back to Nigeria, and he pursued an education in Public Administration and Economics.

His academic journey took him from Kwara Polytechnic to the University of Ado-Ekiti and eventually to the UK, where he earned master’s and doctoral degrees in International Management, Business Administration, and Education. Aluko attributes his success to the values instilled in him during his childhood, particularly the importance of surrounding himself with individuals of great character and continually striving for growth.

Despite the challenges he faced, Aluko remains deeply connected to his Nigerian identity and culture, often wearing traditional attire at interviews and conferences. He believes that promoting Africanism and sharing one's unique gifts with the world is crucial for success on a global stage.
