Atiku won’t quit 2027 presidential race — ADC chieftain tackles Kwankwaso

Chille Igbawua, a high-ranking member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has firmly rejected calls from former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. During an interview on Arise Television, Igbawua, who is also a former House of Representatives member and ADC National Chairman's adviser, dismissed Kwankwaso's concerns over Atiku's age and health.

Igbawua questioned the validity of any data Kwankwaso might have on Atiku's health, emphasizing that Atiku's age is not a hindrance to governing the country. He argued that some younger politicians may lack the mental sharpness and agility that Atiku possesses. Igbawua also criticized Kwankwaso's suggestion that Atiku should step aside for the opposition to "take care of him" if they win the election, calling it an insult and detrimental to opposition unity.

Despite their disagreement, Igbawua indicated that the ADC remains open to dialogue with other opposition parties in the lead-up to the 2027 election. When asked about the possibility of multiple opposition candidates challenging President Bola Tinubu in 2027, Igbawua expressed confidence in the ADC's ability to defeat the incumbent, stating that they would change the country.
