Former Umno veteran Adam Abdul Hamid urged the party's president, Zahid Hamidi, to push for an early General Election, warning that the party would suffer if it remained in government until the end of the term. Addressing the annual Umno General Assembly, Abdul Hamid said Umno must exert maximum pressure on the Prime Minister to hold the election as soon as possible.

He emphasized that a General Election must be held before the middle of February 2028, as the parliamentary term is set to end in December of the following year.

Abdul Hamid called for a cooperative approach between Umno and Perikatan Nasional, as well as PAS, and urged the party to take a dialogue approach instead of focusing solely on power dynamics. He warned that if the focus remains on power alone, it could lead to division and ultimately, the loss of seats. Abdul Hamid argued that coexistence is unsustainable, as the interests of Malays must be prioritized alongside the nation's stability and economic concerns. He proposed that any cooperation between parties should be based on addressing these key issues.

In a separate resolution, Abdul Hamid called on Umno to lead efforts to revive the political strength of Malays based on the Constitution, the people's interests, and national stability. The resolution states that prolonged division would weaken Malay bargaining power and open the door for others to determine the country's political agenda. This strategy is not about ethnic hostility, but rather a unifying approach that preserves fairness and prosperity for the broader community, according to Abdul Hamid.
