NSCDC arrests suspected thugs, rescues injured victims in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State Command has apprehended two suspected culprits and rescued two victims in Kano Municipal Local Government Area, according to a statement released on Friday. SC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, the command's spokesperson, provided details of the incident. He explained that the victims, residents of Makwarari Quarters, were on their way to a local football pitch when they were ambushed by a group of armed thugs in the Kofar Naisa area.

The attackers used dangerous weapons, such as knives and cutlasses, causing multiple injuries to the victims.

Idris-Abdullahi explained that the NSCDC Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) members, while conducting routine patrols in the vicinity, swiftly intervened and rescued the injured victims. He revealed that two suspects, Ibrahim Abdullahi, 23, and Aminu Jazuli, 20, were apprehended at the scene. The spokesperson further reported that several other suspects, many of whom were armed, fled upon spotting the approaching NSCDC operatives.

The rescued victims, who sustained multiple injuries, were provided with immediate medical assistance. The suspects, however, were taken into custody for further investigation. The State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, praised the CTU operatives for their prompt action. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or acts of violence to the security agencies.

Hassan-Agalama assured the public that the suspects would face appropriate legal consequences following the completion of investigations. He reiterated the NSCDC's commitment to safeguarding lives and property, as well as maintaining peace and security throughout the state.
