PM Shehbaz Forbids Extra Load-Shedding

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated that the government restrict electricity load shedding to no longer than two hours in any given area. During a meeting in Islamabad to assess the nation's electricity management, the prime minister called for the formation of consumer grievance committees nationwide to handle power-related complaints.

The prime minister observed increased load shedding in various cities and directed authorities to ensure no area experiences more than two hours of power outages. He pointed out that the decline in electricity generation, due to disruptions in RLNG supplies and transportation difficulties caused by regional tensions and the Strait of Hormuz situation, had created a gap between supply and demand, necessitating stringent load management.

Shehbaz Sharif instructed authorities to take immediate action to address potential RLNG supply disruptions and make optimal use of all resources to maintain the two-hour limit on load shedding. The prime minister also ordered the creation of Consumer Grievance Redressal Committees at the distribution company level, mandating their operation within a week and public representation on the committees.

Electricity consumers can now file complaints via helpline 118, after which they receive a token number and an expected resolution timeline. Currently, monsoon rains are not impacting electricity supply across the country, with the exception of six consumers in Rajanpur district.
