Krieg im Iran: US-Diesel kostet erstmals 6 US-Dollar pro Gallone

In the United States, the average price for diesel fuel has reached an all-time high of $6.0556 per gallon, according to the automotive association AAA. This makes diesel the most expensive fuel ever recorded. When converted to euros, this price amounts to approximately 5.22 euros. Gasbuddy, a market analysis platform, notes that diesel is now 2.30 dollars more expensive than a year ago when the national average was around 3.70 dollars.

The AAA had previously mentioned a significant upward trend. Last Thursday, gas prices increased by 13 cents to $4.277 per gallon, compared to $3.194 a year ago. The current price hike is largely due to the complex situation surrounding the Hormuz Strait, caused by the Iran war and disrupted shipping traffic in the strait. This reduced supply of crude oil to the global market has led to higher prices.

Brent crude oil for November delivery rose to $108 per barrel for the first time since May, just days after the Iran-US war escalated militarily again. Comparatively, fueling in the US is still cheaper than in Germany. In terms of liters and euros, the current US gasoline price is about 97 cents, and diesel is approximately 1.37 euros.

According to ADAC, regular gasoline (E10) in Germany cost 2.259 euros per liter last, while diesel was 2.321 euros per liter.
