Khairy Jamaluddin stated that Umno President Zahid Hamidi's opening remarks constituted a mandate from a "prime minister in waiting," providing a clear direction and goal for Barisan Nasional (BN) as they prepare for the upcoming general election. Meanwhile, former Umno deputy president Hishammuddin Hussein stated that the direction of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) now solely depends on the ability of its leadership to return the party to growth and strength.

He noted that a party's journey often involves both ups and downs, as it did during the eight years ago that proved the existence of a cyclical process in politics. "When we rise, we grow, are praised, and supported. But when we fall eight years ago, we were attacked, insulted, and slandered."
