Jika ikut takrifan PAS, Ummo hanya tanding 9 kerusi di Perak

Umno Perak warns that cooperating with PAS must not jeopardize the survival of Umno. Iqbal Jamal Jamaluddin, deputy of the Ipoh Barat branch of Umno, explained that Umno Perak would only contest nine Dewan representatives seats if the seat distribution is based on PAS' status quo. If the status quo from the 2015 PRU remains unchanged, Umno Perak would only contest nine seats and risk losing 13 seats, said Iqbal during his 2026 Umno Congress speech preparation in the Umno General Assembly.

Iqbal strongly emphasized that political unity should not come at the cost of Umno's survival. We want Islamic unity, but a thorough and respectful discussion is necessary. We don't want to be strong only in the south, like Johor and Malacca, but weak in the north, he added. Iqbal stated that the seat distribution must consider the performance of Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad, including the fourth highest within-state revenue growth (KDNK) and nearly RM490 million in state revenue shares over four years.

Sadly, if the positive numbers that the people feel are not considered for PRU16, the Perak strong political record cannot be taken into account for seat distribution, he said. Currently, the Barisan Nasional holds nine seats (eight Umno and one MIC) in the DUN, compared to 18 of the 26 seats of the Perikatan Nasional (17 PAS, eight Bersatu, and one Wawasan).

At the parliamentary level, the BN holds three seats, while the PN holds ten. On September 3, it was reported that the Dewan Pemuda PAS passed a resolution that all parliamentary and Dewan representatives seats won in PRU15 should remain with PAS candidates in the upcoming elections, including if they cooperate with any party. Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar, the chairman of the Dewan Pemuda PAS Public Relations, said the resolution was proposed by the Pemuda PAS representatives and unanimously approved without debate.
