BN records stronger Malay, Indian, Chinese support in Johor, Negri Sembilan polls

Barisan Nasional (BN) has seen stronger support from Malay, Indian, and Chinese voters in the recent elections in Johor and Negri Sembilan, according to recent polling data. Support for BN among Malay voters in Johor nearly doubled from 44.9% in 2022 to 82.4% in the 2026 election. Similar increases were observed in Negri Sembilan, where Malay voter support rose from 45.8% to 79%.

This surge in support was accompanied by significant growth among Indian and Chinese voters, indicating a recovery and increased confidence in the Umno-BN coalition. In Johor, BN secured all 14 military voting streams, with 82.1% of military voters opting for BN. In Negri Sembilan, military voter support for BN reached 92.47%. The increase in Indian support for BN in Johor from 18.9% to 54.8% and in Negri Sembilan from 49.6% to a higher percentage was also notable.

Chinese voter support for BN grew from 9.5% to 20% in Johor and from 8.7% to 14% in Negri Sembilan. BN's success in securing the highest Indian vote in these states was attributed to strong alliances with parties such as the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), Indian Progressive Front (IPF), and various other groups.
