Amusan wins silver at inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Nigeria's Tobi Amusan secured the silver medal in women's 100m hurdles at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship held in Budapest, Hungary on Friday. She finished second with a time of 12.34 seconds behind the United States champion Masai Russell, who claimed first place with a time of 12.22 seconds. The Netherlands' Nadine Visser took the bronze, finishing third in 12.39 seconds.

This result prevented Amusan, a former world record holder, from reclaiming the top spot from Russell, who broke her own record at the Zurich Diamond League event in August. Russell entered the Budapest final as the favorite, following her record-breaking performance in Zurich, and maintained her winning form to claim another victory.

Amusan expressed her determination to give her best despite a challenging period during the season, crediting her family, mentor, coach, and boyfriend for helping her regain confidence. She acknowledged the increasing competitiveness in the event and warned that the battle among top hurdlers would intensify in the future.
