Zahid to meet Negeri Sembilan MB over proclamation to remove ruler

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi plans to meet Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Ismail Lasim during the party's general assembly over the latter's claim that he was coerced into signing a proclamation to remove Tuanku Muhriz as the state ruler. Zahid stated that he will meet Ismail during the assembly and request an explanation regarding the circumstances that led to his statement.

Ismail previously signed the proclamation under duress, admitting to lodging a police report on the matter. The document, signed by Ismail and four chieftains on August 3, was shown at a press conference. However, Ismail rejected the validity of the document, maintaining his loyalty to the ruler and denying any involvement in an attempt to remove Tuanku Muhriz.

Zahid also addressed speculation regarding a senior Umno leader's potential detention by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) post-general assembly, emphasizing Umno's willingness to cooperate with MACC if there is substantial evidence to support a prosecution.
