Wawasan perlu ruang pengaruhi dasar PN, kata penganalisis

The Wirajaya Party, known as Wawasan, needs substantial space within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition to influence the base and the combined narrative, according to political analyst Tawfik Yaakub. Wawasan should establish its own political voice to build a distinct identity separate from other PN components, he added. The analyst emphasized that the party's core principles, centered around morality and law, should be translated into clear, people-centric policy proposals covering issues like affordable living, job opportunities, housing, education, and governance.

"If Wawasan desires to attract simple-minded voters, PN must give the party genuine space to form the base and combined narrative," he said to FMT.

Wawasan, formerly known as Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM), rebranded after the Malaysian Societies Registration Department (JPPM) approved the name, logo, and charter changes on July 6. The party was also accepted as one of the components of PN. Notably, Wawasan has the potential to serve as a pipeline for PN to reach out to simple-minded Malaysians, professional professionals, young urban dwellers, and a segment of non-Malay voters.

However, the analyst from UM expressed that Wawasan needs to prove its distinct identity and not merely serve as a 'simple face' for PN. The party also faces the challenge of delivering a simpler and more open approach within a coalition, which includes PAS, a party more synonymous with Malay-Islam politics. "However, this difference can be managed if Wawasan has space to influence the core and direction of PN, rather than merely being an appendage of the coalition," he cautioned.
