Umno shouldn’t be bound to other parties after GE16, says youth leader

A youth leader from Johor Umno has suggested that the party should not be tied to any political alliance after the next general election. Noor Azleen Ambros, the Johor Umno Youth chief, emphasized that the current unity government, comprising Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, is merely a temporary arrangement. He made the remarks while discussing the wing's policy speech, stating that the party's ultimate goal is to regain dominance in Malaysian politics.

Azleen highlighted the growing division within the Malay community and declining confidence in leadership as critical issues the party must address before the 16th general election. He noted that no other political party has emerged to lead by example or provided a clear vision, leaving Malays without any hope. As a Malay-based party, he argued that Umno has a responsibility to unite the community and strengthen unity.

Recent election victories in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, according to Azleen, demonstrate that Malays can return to Umno if the party takes the right steps, demonstrates humility, and prioritizes community interests. The youth leader stressed that Umno should remain moderate while defending the rights of Malays, Bumiputeras, and Islam. He also called for a review of the party's Malay agenda, stressing the need to offer concrete policies that improve the community's economic resilience, education, and leadership.
