Bauchi Senator Buba demands evidence of alleged links to bandits

Shehu Buba, the senator representing Bauchi South and the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, has demanded that individuals accusing him of having connections with bandits provide concrete evidence to support their allegations. Buba asserted that these accusations are politically motivated and intended to tarnish his reputation prior to the 2027 elections.

He urged anyone possessing evidence against him to submit it to the relevant security agencies or the courts rather than disseminating such claims via the media, which he referred to as "blackmail and false claims."

Buba has maintained his innocence, stating that he has submitted his grievances to the appropriate authorities for resolution and that he will persist in challenging anyone who presents evidence against him in accordance with the law. He emphasized that political disputes should not serve as a justification for blackmail, falsehoods, or attempts to undermine a person's integrity, faith, culture, and reputation.

The senator has been under scrutiny for alleged links to suspected bandits since 2024. The latest allegations emerged following videos shared by a content creator named D English Alhaji, who claimed that bandit leaders had visited the senator's residence. A local resident, Hassan, also accused Buba of being implicated in a political conspiracy involving support for bandits in the region.

Hassan further alleged that individuals connected to the notorious bandit leader Dogo Gide were transported to Abuja for specialized training, allegedly with the assistance of one of Buba's aides.

In response to these allegations, Buba vowed that they would not intimidate or silence him. His Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Sabo Mohammed, confirmed the senator's statement in a statement released on Tuesday, describing the reports as part of a strategically orchestrated campaign aimed at achieving political objectives ahead of the 2027 elections.
