Umno shouldn’t be bound to other parties after GE16, says youth leader

The Johor Umno Youth chief, Noor Azleen Ambros, has stated that Umno should not be bound to any political party after the next general election. He argued that the country should focus on uniting Malays and acknowledged that there was widespread dissatisfaction among grassroots Malays regarding the unity government formed after the 15th general election. Azleen emphasized that the unity government was merely a temporary arrangement and that Umno's ultimate goal was to regain dominance in Malaysian politics.

He called for a review of Umno's Malay agenda, stating that the party needed to provide concrete policies to improve the economic resilience, education, and leadership of the Malay community. Azleen pointed out that despite recent election victories in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, Malays were still divided, and confidence in leadership was low.

He urged Umno to maintain a moderate stance while defending the interests of Malays, Bumiputeras, and Islam, and to respect the rights of other communities to ensure that support for the party is sustainable.
