Trump takes centre stage as Republicans fight midterm tide

President Donald Trump addressed the inaugural Republican National Convention for the midterms at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Vowing to rally his party, Trump warned that grim election forecasts, weak approval ratings, and discontent over prices and the war with Iran would not deter Republicans from winning in November.

The president urged supporters to vote, emphasizing that their decision would determine whether America progresses or remains stagnant. Despite his approval rating hovering in the low 30s, Trump maintained that Republican fortunes were still linked to his presidency. The convention, marking the first of its kind for a midterm election, featured over 100 House members and candidates, with more than 50 speakers and presentations scheduled each night.
