NSMQ Final: St Augustine’s get GH¢120,000 motivational package from old boys

Old students of St Augustine's College, affectionately known as APSUNIANS, have pledged a substantial GH¢120,000 motivational cash package for their school's team as it prepares to compete in the highly anticipated final round of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). This generous gesture, confirmed to Joy News by the old students, is spearheaded by a dynamic trio named 'FED' - Francis, Elton, and Duncan.

The distribution of this financial support is as follows: each of the three contestants will receive GHS10,000 for making it to the final round, while the team coordinators and teachers will collectively share the remaining GHS10,000.

In the event St Augustine's College emerges victorious, the three contestants will receive an additional GHS20,000 each, along with an extra GHS10,000 for the coordinators and teachers. The old students have also hinted at the possibility of an undisclosed bonus package for the entire team, should they triumph in the competition.

St Augustine's College, Ghana's inaugural Catholic secondary school, last claimed victory in the NSMQ during the 2019 competition, narrowly defeating Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presec) and St Peter’s Senior High School, who finished in second and third positions respectively.

As the stage is set for a highly anticipated and fiercely competitive grand finale, all three finalists are poised to deliver an electrifying contest. The prospect of St Augustine's College, which has claimed the NSMQ title twice, including its status as the sole Ghanaian school to have won the African Science and Maths Quiz Championship since its inception, adding another feather to their cap in this highly anticipated showdown.
