NSMQ Final: St Augustine’s get GH¢110,000 motivational package from old boys

The old students of St Augustine's College, affectionately referred to as APSUNIANS, have pledged a substantial GH¢110,000 motivational cash package to support the school's team as they prepare for the highly anticipated final round of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). This generous gesture, confirmed to Joy News by the old students, is spearheaded by a powerful trio known as 'FED' - Francis, Elton and Duncan.

The financial aid being provided is structured in a way that each of the three competitors will receive a sum of GHS10,000 for making it to the finals, while the team's coordinators and educators will together share GHS10,000. If St Augustine's College triumphs in the competition, the three contestants will be awarded an additional GHS20,000, whereas the faculty of coordinators and teachers will receive an extra GHS10,000.

The old students have also hinted at providing an undisclosed supplementary package for the team, should they emerge victorious, both within Ghana and internationally. St Augustine's College, Ghana's oldest Catholic secondary institution, last claimed the NSMQ title in 2019, outperforming Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (Presec) and St Peter's Senior High School, which secured the second and third positions respectively.

With the grand finale drawing near, the stage is set for an intense and thrilling competition among the three finalists, who are all committed to delivering an electrifying contest. It should be noted that St Augustine's College has a remarkable history in the NSMQ, having clinched the title twice in the past, and holds the distinction of being the only Ghanaian school to have won the African Science and Maths Quiz Championship since its establishment.
