NDLEA officer killed during operation against drug users in Bauchi

A National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officer was fatally injured during an operation targeting suspected drug users in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Tuesday, according to reports. The incident took place in Anguwan Zango, Tilden Fulani. A resident familiar with the situation stated that tensions arose when the officers apprehended a young individual suspected of drug use.

The resident further explained that some youths resisted the arrest, obstructing the officers' efforts to remove the suspect. This resistance escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in the officer being stabbed in the stomach by one of the youths. The assailant and the other NDLEA personnel promptly fled the scene, leaving the injured colleague at the scene.

The NDLEA Bauchi Command has initiated a search for the unidentified individual believed to be responsible for the officer's death, releasing the suspect's photograph as a wanted person. The command has also shared the photo on its social media platforms to aid in the identification and apprehension of the person.
