Minister of State for Foreign Affairs bids farewell to Cypriot Ambassador

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) plans to charge a former minister with three counts of dishonest misappropriation of property related to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) on Monday, according to MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman during a press conference. The commission has recommended three charges against the individual under Section 403 of the Penal Code.

Five people have been charged so far in the TH RCI probe, including a former deputy general manager of construction, a former security and health manager at TH Properties Sdn Bhd, a former TH chairman, Alam Maritim Sdn Bhd’s CEO, and a former TH chief operating officer. Out of 14 investigation papers opened by the MACC, six have been completed with two resulting in charges, while four were classified as no further action (NFA).

The remaining eight investigation papers are MACC initiatives based on findings from the TH RCI report, which involve suspicious and unsatisfactory investments. Investigations into foreign entities in Saudi Arabia and Singapore are ongoing, as they require mutual legal assistance (MLA) processes, document collection from overseas parties, and recorded statements.

MACC's Abd Halim also refuted claims that a senior Umno leader would be called to provide evidence before the commission after the party’s general assembly, denying any such upcoming call.
