Kangar Bersatu deputy chief, 90 branch chiefs leave party over loss of trust in leadership

Kangar Bersatu deputy chief Faisol Rahman, along with the division committee and 90 out of its 99 branch chiefs, stated on September 10 that they are leaving the party immediately. The group included the division's Armada, Srikandi and Srikandi Muda leadership lines, such as Armada Kangar deputy chief Mohd Firdaus Ismail and all Armada committee members.

At a press conference in Kuala Perlis, Faisol declared the move was not related to any Bersatu Members of Parliament or state assemblymen in the division's committee. Faisol explained that the decision was reached after thorough consideration, taking into account current situations and the opinions of the grassroots, who have lost confidence in the central leadership.

He expressed that the party's strength originates from trust between leaders and grassroots members, and when that trust dwindles, it's time to take a definitive stance. Faisol proposed that the party join Parti Wawasan Negara, led by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin. Perlis Bersatu leadership body chief Izizam Ibrahim welcomed the resignations, seeing it as an opportunity for a beneficial cleansing to reinforce the party in the state.

According to Bersatu's constitution, resignations or vacancies within a division do not dissolve it; a fresh organising committee will be established to reorganise the leadership.
