Iran has resumed ballistic missile production, report says

Tehran has recommenced manufacturing ballistic missiles, with assembly taking place in underground facilities throughout Iran, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday. The newspaper cited US and Middle East officials, who stated that Iran has been constructing both liquid-propelled and solid-propellant missiles using existing stockpiles.

Intelligence sources suggest that these activities are occurring at multiple underground sites, including the Khojir missile plant in southeastern Iran. Officials also indicated that Tehran is constructing additional underground plants to minimize the risk of further attacks.

One of the primary objectives of the Trump administration's campaign against Iran was the dismantling of Tehran’s conventional missile capabilities. In a statement to The National, a Pentagon spokesperson confirmed that US forces had achieved all mission objectives set during the war. According to the spokesperson, "By every military metric, we’ve decimated Iran's military."

The Centcom (U.S. Central Command) reported that they had intercepted thousands of Iranian drones and missiles, significantly reducing Iran's ability to launch them. Furthermore, they destroyed up to 90 percent of Iran's drone, ballistic missile, and naval industrial base.

In April, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that Iran's missile program was "functionally destroyed." However, a recent development suggests that Tehran may have partially restored some of its capabilities, as it launched a volley of missiles at a Jordanian base housing US troops this week.
